2020 Itinerary

The itinerary for the 2020 Interclub Bay Cruise has now been announced and we’ll be visiting these fabulous destinations.

DAY 1: Saturday 19 September

Our first day will start off with a bang at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron’s Canaipa venue on Russell Island. Kid’s activities will start at 2pm, including painting the ICBC Banner.

The day will finish on a high with traditional Canaipa meal including the famous and very yummy roast dinner and apple crumble.

DAY 2: Sunday 20 September

We are excited to be visiting Little Ship Club for lunch, the first time for 14 years, as well as a great day of games planned by Rear Commodore Matt. The evening will include a bonfire back at RQYS Canaipa.

While you cruise north from Canaipa to the Little Ship Club for lunch and activities, make sure you get those binoculars out and get involved in the Observation Run. Then, after a delicious lunch we will head back to anchor at Canaipa for dinner on our boats, followed by an evening on shore with a bonfire, so bring your marshmallows.

DAY 3: Monday 21 September

On Monday morning we head south — you can go either of two ways, south through the Canaipa Passage (for shallow draft vessels) or via the Western channel (for deeper draft vessels).

Then at 1pm we’ll meet ashore on South Stradbroke Island at Southport Yacht Club’s Dux Anchorage ready to walk across the island to go sand tobogganing — don’t forget to bring your boogie boards. Be back on shore at 4pm for the annual Interclub Bay Cruise Horse Race.

DAY 4: Tuesday 22 September

Today we head further south to Sanctuary Cove Marina and Marine Village, once again keep your eye out along the way to compete in the second part of the Observation Run. This was a really popular day and night last year, and we have lots of activities planned, including golf buggy rides, access to the pool (hopefully) and a ‘surprise’ visit from some Emergency Services.

Make sure you book a restaurant before we arrive. Please also support the retailers in the Marine Village.

DAY 5: Wednesday 23 September

Today starts with the Sail Past where you can decorate your boat and the fleet cruises along slowly single-file. Once you reach the Commodore’s vessel you salute in thanks. Then you can break formation and head back north at your own pace to Tipplers Passage. Lunch today will be at at Tipplers Licensed Café.

Make sure you build up your energy ready for the ICBC Biathlon at 2pm around the sheltered swimming area. After all this fun you’ll be ready to jump in your dinghies and head ashore to BOAT Club for yummy Aqua Slaw Dogs cooked with tender loving care by the BOAT Club members.

DAY 6: Thursday 24 September

For our final full day and night, we’re heading back to one of our favourite last day destinations, Couran Cove Resort. Resort activities start at 11am with paddle boards, the water park, or you can take a walk or bike ride to the ocean beach.

In the afternoon, we’ll all head over to Sunset Beach for sundowners and to watch the sun set. After dinner, we have the talent competition, so make sure you have your act ready, it’s always a great way to finish the night.

DAY 7: Friday 25 September

It’s time to farewell friends old and new, pencil in future rendezvous, and plan to meet again at the reunion lunch in a couple of month’s time as this year’s Cruise draws to a close for another year.

You can lift the hook and head for home or, for those lucky enough, continue on with their holiday itinerary until those pesky land-based obligations call.
