2021 Itinerary

The itinerary for the 2021 Interclub Bay Cruise has now been announced and we’ll be visiting these fabulous destinations.

DAY 1: Saturday 18 September

Our first day will start off with a bang at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron’s Canaipa venue on Russell Island. Meet up with new and old friends at this idyllic island facility.

Banner painting and kids activities in the afternoon. After the Commodore’s Welcome and usual reports (and Sarge!) at 1700hrs we have a lovely Roast Meal planned and an opportunity for you to mingle with old friends and new.

DAY 2: Sunday 19 September

We are excited to be visiting Little Ship Club again this year for lunch, and in the evening a bonfire back at RQYS Canaipa is planned.

The daily Fishing Competition gets underway today, with ‘weigh-in’ via photo by 1600hrs to our Fishing Weighmaster. Dinner is self-catered tonight and then we have a Bonfire onshore, so bring your marshmallows for toasting.

DAY 3: Monday 20 September

On Monday morning we head south to B.O.A.T. Club — you can go either of two ways, south through the Canaipa Passage (for shallow draft vessels) or via the Western channel (for deeper draft vessels).

Sand tobogganing on the surf-side of South Stradbroke Island this afternoon, BYO Toboggan/boogie board. Tonight we have dinner and Trivia night at B.O.A.T. Club.

DAY 4: Tuesday 21 September

Today our we enjoy another day in Tipplers Passage. You can grab a coffee or a bite to eat at Tipplers Licensed Café, take a walk across the island to the surf side, or just sit back and relax on your boat.

This morning at 1100hrs we have a new event, the Junior Sail Past — kids can decorate their tenders and sail past the Commodore. Prizes up for grabs. In the afternoon there will be activities at the swimming enclosure, including the blind-folded dinghy races. Dinner at Tipplers Licenced Café and a movis for the kids afterwards.

DAY 5: Wednesday 22 September

Today we cruise south on the broadwater to an old favourite, Southport Yacht Club. When you arrive, feel free to avail yourself of the club’s facilities. Award winning restaurant and bars, laundry facilities and a fuel dock.

On the trip down to Southport today we have an Observation Run, so keep your eyes peeled so you can answer all the questions! Tonight we have our dress-up night for “When I Grow Up”, and a disco afterwards.

DAY 6: Thursday 23 September

Nestled in behind the seaway and adjacent to VMR Southport is The Stadium, or Bum’s Bay as it is often called.  With sandy beaches all around, it is an ideal place for the kids to get their sandcastle game up to scratch.

We need to depart the SYC Marina by 1000hrs and make the short trip north. In the afternoon there will be activities on the beach at northern end of the basin, and at 1600hrs the famous Canaipa Cup horse race will be on shore at VMR Southport. Bring your homemade ‘horse’ made from items you have on your vessel. Free sausage sizzle dinner tonight, with a Gold coin donation to VMR. Last but not least, we have our Talent Quest tonight.

DAY 7: Friday 24 September

Today we head north to Sanctuary Cove Marina and Marine Village

Today we dress up our boats in all their finery for the Commodore’s Sail Past. When we get to Sanctuary Cove, feel free to explore the Marine Village and support the retailers where you can. Dinner tonight is beside the resort lagoon pool, and finally we will be having Secret Sailor (aka Secret Santa) tonight.

DAY 8: Saturday 25 September

It’s time to farewell friends old and new, pencil in future rendezvous, and plan to meet again at the reunion lunch in a couple of month’s time as this year’s Cruise draws to a close for another year.

You can lift the hook and head for home or, for those lucky enough, continue on with their holiday itinerary until those pesky land-based obligations call.
